Willcacocha Lake

It is a lake located in the Cordillera Negra, near the city of Huaraz, it is a peaceful and strategic place to get great views of the valley and the mountains of the Cordillera Blanca. Recommended for a first day of acclimatization in the Andes.
We headed to the village of San Pedro (10 km south of Huaraz), approx. 15 minutes by public transport. Exactly on the bridge of Chiwipampa our trek begins ascending, in the way we observe small Andean towns and homes. After walking 2 ½ hours we reached Willcacocha Lake (3750 m), from here we get spectacular views of the White Mountains, also in the lake we can see various kinds of wild ducks and Cattails. After enjoying the magic of this place, we return to Huaraz (2 hours approx.)
